Lupa Santiago
Lupa Santiago has performed and recorded with a wide range of international jazz artists in Brazil, Europe and United States. He has performed and been listed with : Jerry Bergonzi, Bill Pierce, Jaleel Shaw, Dave Liebman, Howard Levy, Gary Willys, Magos Herrera, Ronan Guilfoyle, Oscar Stagnaro, Phil De Greg, Bob Kaufman, Vincent Gardner, Vardan Ovsepian, Robert Stillman, Phil Wilson, Robert Kaufman, to name a few. In addition, in Brazil, some of the artists and groups he has worked with include Fernando Brandão, Banda Mantiqueira, Nelson Faria, Fernando Corrêa, Sizão Machado, Vinicius Dorim, Bob Wyatt, Daniel D’Alcântara, Rogério Bocato and Nenê .
As an instrumentalist and composer, he has recorded six CD’s: Images (Mix House, 2001) - Nominated for the Latin Grammy award -, Jazz em Dobro (MixHouse/Trama, 2003), Sinequanon (Tratore, 2004), Telescópio (Tratore, 2006), Regra de Três (Tratore, 2007), Horizonte Artificial (Tratore, 2008). In addition, he recorded with Robert Kaufman, MC4+, and Robson Fernandes on their Cd’s. Lupa Santiago received his Master’s Degree in music from Boston Conservatory and Berklee College Of Music (Boston, United States– 2000). He graduated from Berklee College Of Music (1998) and from the Musicians Institute (GIT/Los Angeles, United States - 1995). Beyond this, he studied privately with Mick Goodrick, Hal Crook, Scott Henderson, Steve Cardenas, and Wayne Krantz. Lupa is a two time recipient of the prize, Best Of Berklee (1998 e 2000). Lupa Santiago is the academic coordinator and vice-director of the Brazilian music college, Faculdade Souza Lima in Sao Paulo. He is a professor at the Brazililan music college, Faculdade Carlos Gomes. He has released two instructional videos, Modern Improvisation I and II (http://www.aprendamusica.com.br) and gives workshops in Brazil, the United States, and Europe.
